I travel a good deal because of work and I’ve tried all sorts of them and thought the Jiffy Steamer ESTEAM Travel Steamer was great. Some special features that attracted me: its small, lightweight size; the long length of the cord (9 feet); and a large, comfortable handle for better grip. It’s in-fitted with an automatic shut-off device that operates clicks on whenever the tank runs dry. Another safety feature is the internal cooling system that it ensures the devise doesn’t overheat. Additional accessories include a voltage converter and adapter so you can take it along on foreign trips.

Personally, I like the Jiffy for the following reasons:

PROS:

  • Most important is that despite its small size, it really does get out the wrinkles out in a jiffy! Also, I found the results looked just the same as if I were using my regular bigger steamer.
  • It’s absolutely great on fabrics like silk and taffeta that can be difficult to work on. Not only does it work well my vintage fabrics, but also on my personal clothes which are mostly cottons and linens.
  • The warm-up period is quite short – about 5 minutes – after which it delivers quiet jets of steam and doesn’t huff ‘n’ puff away like a dying dog.
  • Being small and light weight, it’s easy to pack. I often put mine in my carry-on luggage.
  • My older, bigger steamer at home constantly needs to be cleaned out with salt. Jiffy steamer hasn’t had that problem yet with regular tap water.
  • If you’re a regular traveler like me, using hotel pressing services can be quite costly, so this a good long-term investment that actually works on your garments.
  • It balances very well and I don’t have to worry about it toppling over unexpectedly.
  • They have the option of a pink Jiffy (the regular one is black) which is called the Cancer Series. I thought it was very conscientious of them to partner their product to a worthy cause.

CONS:

  • It would be nice to have a larger water tank. Having to refill every 15 or 20 minutes can be a pain, particularly when doing several garments at a go. But then I suppose that would compromise on the low weight.
  • I find it’s not as effective when used in a horizontal position, so definitely keep it upright and you may have to tug slightly at the more difficult creases.

In conclusion, I now have two Jiffy Steamers – one that stays permanently in the shop and one for travelling. It’s definitely a must-buy for those want a good quality but easy to carry steamer for travelling – and also at home. I’ve had the first one for two years now of almost weekly usage (more when I’m travelling) and it’s still going strong.
